This is a plea to the county commissioners. Please pass the stormwater ordinance as written... please don’t tamper with it. You can help solve our problems by not allowing it to be watered down. Make it right this time!

It is so good to be ripping through another one of Don Williams’ great columns. I can just see him positioned before the entrance to Regas restaurant. I have just finished a big fat bio on H.L. Mencken and was fascinated by his account of his time in Dayton at the “Tennessee circus.” He stated that he “looked for three or four days of excellent comedy,” and what he found was a “country town full of charm and even beauty.” It was the back woods evangelists that he considered sub-human.

I am also highly entertained by Julie Auer and Jack Mauro.  Mencken said “a man who sits in a room alone trying to fetch up ideas out of his own gizzard seems bound to be more or less unhealthy.” For this, as an artist, I identify and appreciate great writing!
